I have been in the studio when possible, working on a large interior project, planning out future endeavors, and seeking within and in new books and sources of information to continue to learn and grow The new year has arrived, a continuing moment in the narrative of every breath. I am stoked to have a few studio shots and share some more travel images with you. I have been discovering more about myself and my painting and am looking forward to embarking on some new drawings soon as well. Things are shifting, changing, and directions forming and beckoning. Pretty happy to have closed the door on a successful 2018 and be able to look back at one of the best years of my life.
I am at the airport right now headed to NYC. When I booked this ticket it was for my partner's birthday and also to peep some of the Armory show, BUT, BOOM, Superchief is also having a massive group show and a Juxtapoz issue release party one night after the other starting tomorrow, Friday 03/09/2018! The Saturday 03/10/2018 is the official show opening! Going to be nuts. I have been working with these guys since 2013 and I have to say, they are the future of so much that is art in the US and abroad. We are a movement, a community, a powerhouse of ideas and forward motion and insanity and I am so grateful to have been a part for over 5 years now. We are living in strange times and they continue to carry a torch through the darkness, with a huge squad to support that fire.
Superchief NY is located at 1628 Jefferson Ave, Ridgewood, NY 11385,
Their website is http://superchiefgallery.com
The pieces I will be showing are below. I can't wait to get to the clubhouse.
I painted the piece above, Hadouken, on a trip to NYC last year during a period of immense travel. It was one of my favorite moments of the 2017 and I am really happy to unveil it officially!
And this piece from my older show in Chelsea in 2015, From Here is also going to be up and broadcasting live...
So once the Mural i did with Kent Yoshimura and crew was finished it was time for some LA fun. I was so wrecked physically after the mural that I had to give myself a 5 hour session at WiSpa. I got to spend some time with with homies Phil and Michelle, then it was onward to do some gallery hopping with my friend Jessica (also a Superchief Co-Conspirator), then to Superchief where we kicked it, talk about future ideas, had a pool party, as per their August Conceptual Art Show Brilliance, "A Swimming Pool in the Gallery", and then went to Malibu the next day before I headed to NC to see my Grandmother turn 90 (which was awesome btw). I got to hang with all the Superchief Peeps like Bill and Marcella and Taylor and Tubby and Serena and more. It was solid. Like a page out of a future Kerouacian autobiographical adventure chronicle of celebrations of ideas, weirdness, energy, and togetherness. The chief always makes it happen. Here are some photos to give a visual trip.
